It’s largely been a week of editing and revisions around here, but there’s cover art a’comin’, too!

Pressing Matters: Week of Jan. 21-25, 2013

Editing

  1. Revision requests out on two possible sequels; waiting on returned contracts and then…announcements!
  2. Brainstorming with one author about different title ideas for said sequel. Titles are funny, funny things…and hard to get just right!
  3. Going through Blue Diamond Delivery revisions – Webrid strikes back!
  4. David Colby has hit the halfway point on revisions to Shattered Sky.
  5. Going through edits on what may shape up to be an impossibly cool fantasy detective novel.

Production

  1. Digital ARCs for The Other Half of the Sky are headed out into the world this week. We finally got the ornament to work!
  2. The ornament looks GREAT in the print version, too. And the final cover? Gorgeous. This anthology really is the whole package.
  3. Getting author feedback on covers for The Dominion and working up new ideas there.
  4. Got a GREAT piece of cover art for The Daughter Star; now we’re working on fonts.

Reviews, Promotions, and Buzz

  1. What are you doing on Monday, February 4? If you’re in the New York metro area, you should head to Rough & Ready to get a sneak peek at Blue Diamond Delivery by Anne E. Johnson!
  2. Pencil it in: Justin Robinson will be on hand at the Redondo Beach Mysterious Galaxy on Feb. 16 for their local authors meet-and-greet! We hear he’s also planning to be at the next LA edition of Noir at the Bar.

Sundries

  1. Royalty packages have hit the post.
  2. Now it’s time to reorganize the sales database. Yay?
  3. Brainstorming more ways to promote Candlemark & Gleam books and authors this year, and work on building more of a community. Any ideas? We’d love to hear ’em!
  4. We just started a new occasional blog series to try to support both our authors and other people in the writing community, with looks at what happens after a book launches. Is there anything you’d particularly like to discuss, or have us comment on?
  5. We finally updated the Coming Soon page!
