Jocelyn wasn’t an ordinary princess….

Ordinary princesses do not spend time with trolls or have tea with giant spiders. They don’t run with a group of thieves. They don’t learn the five commandments of sword fighting, and if they meet a unicorn in the forest, it’s a white unicorn, not a pitch-black one. Most of all, princesses are supposed to be rescued by knights from evil dragons. They don’t rescue dragons from evil knights.

Dragonbait tells the story of Jocelyn, a young woman who grew up dreaming of being a princess, and seems to have gotten it all wrong. After leaving the farm she grew up on, she is confronted by two strange individuals: the first, an enormous green dragon, is clearly not the fire-breathing demon that you would expect. The second, the powerful and enigmatic Black Knight, isn’t so noble as a knight should be. As Jocelyn strives to rescue one from the other, it slowly becomes clear that both may know more about her than they’re letting on. And that being a princess isn’t all it was cracked up to be…
(YA fantasy; autumn 2012)
If you’re a fan of The Princess Bride, Dealing with Dragons, or The Thirteen Clocks, we think you’ll fall head over heels for Jocelyn and Dragonbait.
